MATCH REPORT | Feckenham vs Bloxwich Town
Feckenham extended their run to just three defeats in their last 18 games following a well earned point vs Bloxwich Town.
There was a couple of changes for The Millers following their 3-2 victory vs Redditch Borough, in came defender Joe Nokes and forward Ciaran Kelly whilst the inform Ben Ellicott was due to start only to pull up during the warm up so Jack Brimmell kept his place following Thursday’s derby day win.
In truth, it was a game with chances few and far between with both teams lacking any real conviction or creativity in the final third.
It was the visitors who started the better of the two in possession, however, Town never tested Josh Goddard who had a relatively quiet opening 45 minutes.
Feckenham were reduced to 10 men on 6 minutes following an off the ball incident between Haden Smith and Towns Griffiths.
Town didn’t utilise there man advantage, however, and it was Feckenham who responded positively after feeling aggrieved following the dismissal. Murphy went close, whilst Brimmell’s effort whistled just the wrong side of the post.
Shortly after Feckenham found themselves in front, a superb solo effort from Eminoglu saw the midfield man, dance by his markers with ease before racing clear, composing himself and dispatching low past the on rushing goalkeeper. 1-0 Feckenham
A reaction of sorts was witnessed by Town, but they found a determined and disciplined Feckenham rearguard in front of them, and despite the long spells of possession The Millers goal was very rarely threatened.
HALF-TIME: Feckenham 1 - 0 Bloxwich Town
The second half started in a similar vain to the first as the visitors enjoyed long spells of possession, but Feckenham kept Town at bay whilst looking dangerous on the counter attack.
Despite the dismissal Feckenham continued to apply pressure and on 64’ minutes Jordan Adams leapt highest following a corner and his effort went just wide, whilst Eminoglu and Kelly went close.
At the other end Goddard was called into a fine save when a header following a corner deep into then Feckenham area went goal bound.
Another sustained period of Town possession perused but Goddard, Williams, Donnelly, Adams and Nokes were equal to everything that came there way.
George Tolley was introduced to proceedings for Feckenham and came close to making an instant impact when he raced clear only to see his effort well saved by the Town custodian.
On 74’ minutes the ever present Jack Brimmell continued to be a fawn in the visitors side and a mazy run saw The Millers forward race clear only to be hacked down when baring down on goal. The result? Bloxwich’s Craig Ball received his second yellow card and it was 10 vs 10.
Unfortunately for Feckenham, the minutes that went before seemed to have taken its toll as they seemed to lack the energy to exploit the fact that it was now 10 vs 10.
With 81 minutes on the clock, the visitors were level - Bloxwich broke down the right, the resulting cross was whipped into the box, mis-communication between Goddard and Adams saw the latter caught in two minds and The Millers defender turned it into his own net. 1-1 Bloxwich Town
The closing proceedings saw Feckenham try to regain there advantage but to no avail and that was how it finished.
